Public awareness of addiction has skyrocketed during the American opioid epidemic, but some critical trends among vulnerable populations have not received as much attention. This includes the prevalence of addiction among individuals with disabilities of all sorts. Our health group specializes in providing recovery resources for those fighting addiction.

This Senior Resource Guide was prepared by the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County. It lists links to services for Cook County seniors, such as referrals for legal services. Additionally, it links to assistance for self representation (also known as “Pro Se”). Finally, the Guide offers links to other government offices that provide services for seniors.
Elder Law & Miscellaneous Remedies (ELMR) Division Case Filing Program
The ELMR Division hears matters that involve persons age 60 and older pertaining to:
- the Adult Protection Services Act;
- the Illinois Power of Attorney Act;
- Domestic Violence offenses and
- certain criminal offenses in which the victim is age 60 or older.
ELMR judges and courtroom staff are trained to be sensitive to the to older people. They help identify underlying issues and concerns.
